A friend shared the full size photograph and marriage bio-data of a well educated, well earning young man; warning readers to beware of such men. There was a detailed description of how the young man broke off engagement with a young girl, when her brother refused to bow to the hefty dowry demands of the groom to be.
I agree that sharing such posts will embarrass him and maybe, force him to mend his ways; and this will also be a lesson to others.
I was also tempted to share the details on this platform; but I realize the powerful aftereffects of such sharing. Everyone deserves at least one chance to rectify his mistake.
Back to the main issue, earlier the family of the groom would justify their dowry demands by lame excuses like money spent on his education, better salary earning husband, etc; but nowadays, since the wife usually is working (sometimes even more) and supporting the family budget equally with the husband, what justifications do they have to demand dowry? Or they don't see the need to justify this anymore....
