Salt alternatives: low-to-no-sodium flavour enhancers.
- Vinegar, lemon juice and tomatoes: Acidity adds its own taste and brings out the essence of other ingredients.
- Peppers: Black pepper, jalapeno, chilli powder distracts the tongue.
- Onion and Garlic powder: Add aroma and depth.
- Herbs: Dried (oregano, thyme) and fresh (cilantro, parsley, basil)
- Spices: add piquant tang.
